Repost from Dec. 2006
For the first time in 12 years I have remembered an important day, my best friend's birthday.
For years I have always thought it was a different day and not called. Or called just to say and then be told that I forgot to say happy birthday. It was never a problem, only a running joke because although I love my family and friends, if you want me to remember your birthday- you better call me the day before. Unfortunately for me, I can't call him. He's no longer with us. So, today, I just want to send up my wishes to the skies above and say I didn't forget! I miss you and I love you very much. I think about you more than ever and I wish I could see you but I know you are watching over me. With that said I want say what I am thankful for this holiday season.
I am thankful for:
having someone love me unconditionally without wanting something in return
having a family that is screwing up their schedule to be with me when I have surgery this Tuesday
having a son because I never thought I could love someone this much
having a car so that I can get back and forth (yes Steve, I remember the station wagon)
having heat in my house because my job got this bright idea to turn down the heat to 68 and it's FREEZING in my office
having friends that have my back in any situation
having faith in something other than myself
my blog friends cuz even though I don't see you that often you are in my heart, all of you crazy people
having my other half (that would be U sis!)
her having someone that can do my hair wonderfully (that would be B to the R)
having this laptop even though it's completely out of date because I know many people who don't even have a computer (although if someone finds it fit to find me a really cheap laptop I would be grateful)
having a medium to get my feelings out so that I don't have to hold them in anymore
having loved someone so much that even if I never love again at least it happened once
the fact that I woke up this morning because he could have taken me home (at least I hope that is where I'm going!)
growing up in some respects although I miss being a kid.
Now, commence to having a snowball fight.
Peace!
